Anti-Money Launder and Countering of Terrorism Financing

The firm is a leading AML/CFT provider in Pakistan. The firm has assisted the securities regulator overhaul its AML/CFT department which was critical in assisting Pakistan exit from FATF Grey List in 2021. The firm regularly imparts AML/CFT trainings to banks, senior management, compliance teams and front-end sales staff of FIs, Insurers, NBFCs, Brokers and DNFBPs. The firm’s partner has served a national expert on AML/CFT for UNODC and SECP.

Our managing partner is a senior / permanent faculty at the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance and Institute of Business Administration Centre of Executive Excellence.

Alternation Dispute Resolution

The Firm has extensive experience in ADR mechanisms both domestic and international. The partners of the Firm head the Institute of Business Administration Dispute Resolution Forum at Islamabad, an national ADR Centre supported by the US Government to resolution of commercial and corporate disputes through arbitration and mediation.

Conveyancing and Property

The Firm provides full array of services anywhere in KPK, Islamabad and the Punjab. The Firm enjoys good relations with district and provincial revenue offices to ensure proper due diligence is conducted and true and accurate state of affairs is provided to the clients. Our partners were lead architects in designing and implementing the Special Technology Zone Authority of Pakistan and have advised several technology zone developers. Climate Change and Environment

The Firm’s partners have been involved in major environmental litigation at Islamabad on behalf of the Islamabad Wildlife Board to protect degradation of the environment at Islamabad. The Firm provides climate related advisory services including b2b financing for climate mitigation and adaptation projects. The Firm actively provides climate justice litigation services in low bono or pro bono basis.

Business-Entity-Formation

The Firm specializes in entity formation from companies, to special investment vehicles, non-banking finance companies, NPOs, Trusts and Societies. The Firm has represented several overseas clients register entities in Pakistan with the Securities and Exchange Commission and foreign NPOs register with the Economic Affairs Division, Ministry of Finance. The Firm has assisted several clients in IT and other sectors register in Singapore, Abu Dhabi Global Markets, DIFC (Dubai), Canada, USA and foreign offshore zones.

Legal Training

The Firm partners are prolific trainers. They serve as senior legal faculty at the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance and IBA Centre of Executive Excellence. They have imparted instructions on a number of areas of practice, corporate governance trainings, AML/CFT trainings, regulatory compliance, competition laws, company secretarial practices, commercial laws, labour laws, IPR, IT and start-ups, compliances with Special Technology Zones laws etc. The Firm’s partner have also founded the first Continuing Legal Education Institute of Pakistan (CLEIP) with the assistance of the Commercial Law Development Program, US Department of Commerce. CLEIP has been endorsed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan and has spearheaded the campaign to introduce CLE trainings for lawyers in Pakistan. As result of its efforts, CLE now is an integral component of lawyers’ training across Pakistan.

Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions

The Firm has advised Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Central Depository Company of Pakistan and the National Clearing Company of Pakistan in their regulatory functions, including advising on various aspects of securities and clearance legislation including demutualization and integration of the stock exchanges. The Firm routinely assist clients in public offering, obtaining merger clearances from the SECP and High Courts, advising Real Estate Investment Trusts with offerings and listing. A partner of the Firm serves as SECP representative on a dispute resolution committee between investors and policy holders.

Competition

The Firm specializes in competition law and compliance and has represented several clients before administrative proceedings (prohibited agreements and abuse of dominance) before the Competition Commission and before the Competition Appellate Courts. The firm has a stellar track record of obtaining expeditious merger clearances. To its credit the Firm has several reported and first impression cases with respect to consumer protection and deceptive marketing practices. The partners at the Firm have engaged on behalf of the Competition Commission in competition advocacy events, trainings and awareness campaigns.

Intellectual Property Rights, Anti-Counterfeiting Enforcement and Brand Protection

The Firm has extensive experience in registering IPR with the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan. We regularly represent clients prosecute IPR claims and enforcement actions before the Intellectual Property Tribunals of Pakistan. The Firm’s partners have served as trainers of IP Tribunal Judges on behalf of the US Government in Pakistan and Global Intellectual Property Academy, Virginia, USA. The Firm provides brand protection services from its offices in Lahore and Peshawar on behalf of national and international FMCG clients in close collaboration with Provincial food authorities and law enforcement agencies to counter the growing menace of counterfeiting of food products in Pakistan.
